Individual Child Therapy
A safe, developmentally attuned space for children to be heard and helped.
Overview
Children experience the world differently than adults, and their emotional lives can be complex to navigate. Individual child therapy provides a warm, structured space where kids can process feelings, develop coping skills, and feel truly understood.
When individual therapy helps
Children may benefit from individual therapy when they are struggling with anxiety, low mood, big transitions (a new school, a move, a divorce), grief, trauma, self-esteem, behavioral challenges, or difficulty with peers and siblings. Sometimes the signs are quiet — sleep changes, stomachaches, withdrawal — and sometimes they are loud. Both matter.
How we work with children
We meet children where they are — through play, art, storytelling, movement, and age-appropriate conversation. Our therapists blend evidence-based approaches (CBT, TF-CBT, play therapy techniques) with a relational stance that prioritizes trust. Sessions are child-led when they can be, and structured when structure will help.
Partnering with parents
Parents are part of the team. We hold regular check-ins to share themes (without breaking your child’s trust), give practical strategies for home, and coordinate with schools, pediatricians, and other providers when helpful. Kids do their best work when the adults around them are aligned.
