Emotional Support Animal Letter

An Emotional Support Animal (ESA) is a companion animal that provides therapeutic benefit to an individual with a diagnosed mental health condition. Unlike service animals, ESAs are not required to be trained to perform specific tasks. The presence of the animal itself — and the emotional support it provides — is what makes the difference.

The relationship between a person and their emotional support animal is one of presence, attunement, and unconditional comfort. For many, the steady company of an ESA helps reduce anxiety, soften depression, and ease the weight of trauma — making daily life feel more manageable.

Our approach

Built around the person, not the test.

Every evaluation is shaped around the referral question and tailored to the individual. From intake through feedback, the goal is information you can use — clear answers, practical recommendations, and a roadmap for what comes next.

Key details

Our Process

We are committed to providing legitimate, ethically-issued ESA documentation. We do not offer instant or pre-written letters — every ESA recommendation involves an actual clinical evaluation.

  • Schedule an initial appointment with one of our licensed clinicians (telehealth available across Florida).
  • Complete a clinical interview that includes a review of your symptoms, history, and the role your animal plays in your daily functioning.
  • If clinically appropriate, the clinician will issue an ESA letter on official letterhead.
  • Letters are typically delivered within a few business days following the evaluation.

What an ESA Letter Provides & Who Qualifies

A legitimate ESA letter is a formal recommendation from a licensed mental health professional. It documents that the individual has a qualifying mental health condition and that the presence of the emotional support animal helps alleviate one or more symptoms of that condition. The letter may be used to support housing requests under the federal Fair Housing Act. ESA letters are appropriate for individuals living with a diagnosed mental health condition — such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, or other conditions identified in the DSM-5 — whose symptoms are meaningfully relieved by the presence of their animal. An evaluation by a licensed professional is required to make this determination.
