Assessment Process
Psychological testing is a common method used to assess for the presence of various psychological, intellectual, and learning difficulties that may be impacting one’s ability to perform at their optimal level. It involves both educational and psychological evaluations and is available to children and adults for a variety of presenting problems. Tests are individually administered, personalized, and comprehensive in order to obtain detailed information.
In addition to providing information related to various areas of functioning, test results can be utilized for accommodations in the classroom, on standardized tests (e.g., SATs, LSATs, GMATs), and in the workplace, as well as for diagnosis and treatment.
Our approach
Built around the person, not the test.
Every evaluation is shaped around the referral question and tailored to the individual. From intake through feedback, the goal is information you can use — clear answers, practical recommendations, and a roadmap for what comes next.
Key details
Testing Process for Psychoeducational / Psychological Evaluations
- Session 1 — Client and/or parent interview: reason for referral, background, and early history relevant to the evaluation.
- Sessions 2 to 4 — Testing: 2 to 4 sessions of 2 to 4 hours each, with breaks throughout, sized to the client’s age and stamina.
- Session 5 — Feedback of results: typically 2 to 3 weeks after the final testing session, reviewing results and recommendations together.

Reports, Feedback, and What Comes After
Our goal is that no client or parent leaves the process feeling in the dark. Reports and feedback are built to be genuinely useful.
- Written report — Concise, individualized, capturing the essence of the person and the referral question, with actionable recommendations that lead with strengths.
- Feedback session — A conversation with the clinician who conducted the evaluation, so results feel meaningful and well understood.
- After testing — We help link clients to medical and educational resources, consult with providers, and attend IEP meetings when helpful. The relationship doesn’t end at the feedback session.
