Shaina Goodis, M.S.

Licensure Candidate · Registered Mental Health Counselor

Shaina Goodis, M.S., is a Licensure Candidate in Mental Health Counseling who works with children, families, adults, and couples. She believes therapy should be a space where clients can be themselves, feel genuinely understood, and speak openly without judgment. Her warm, collaborative approach builds trusting relationships that help clients explore their experiences and work toward meaningful change.

Shaina earned her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University. Her clinical background includes college counseling and residential eating-disorder treatment. Before her graduate training, she worked as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), providing individualized behavioral support to children with autism and partnering closely with their families.

Approach to Counseling.

Shaina takes an active, collaborative approach to therapy, combining thoughtful exploration with practical tools clients can apply in their everyday lives. She helps clients identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck, approach challenges from new perspectives, and discover strategies that align with their individual needs and goals. Her work is grounded in helping clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to make changes that feel meaningful to them.

Her approach incorporates:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Person-Centered Therapy
  • Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Strengths-Based Therapy
  • Mindfulness and grounding techniques
  • Psychoeducation

Working with Children and Families.

Shaina draws from her experience working with children to create an engaging, age-appropriate therapeutic environment where they can explore their emotions, navigate challenges, and develop healthy coping skills. She tailors her approach to each child’s developmental stage and unique personality, using play, creativity, and open conversation to help them feel comfortable expressing themselves. Shaina also works alongside parents and caregivers to strengthen communication, better understand their child’s needs, and develop strategies that support progress both in and outside of sessions.

Working with Adults

Shaina works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, adjustment difficulties, self-esteem concerns, and relationship challenges. She helps clients explore the thoughts, emotions, and patterns shaping their experiences, building greater self-awareness along the way. Using cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based, and strengths-based techniques, including cognitive restructuring, emotion regulation, grounding, problem-solving, and assertiveness skills, she helps clients build confidence, set healthy boundaries, and move through life’s challenges with greater resilience.

Couples and Relationship Concerns.

Shaina helps couples strengthen communication, navigate conflict, and reconnect by identifying recurring patterns and better understanding one another’s perspectives. She creates a space where both partners feel heard, working with them to move through disagreements more constructively and build a stronger sense of connection.

Shaina also supports individuals navigating dating and relationship stress, breakups, boundaries, trust, communication difficulties, and changing relationship dynamics, helping them make sense of their experiences and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
